British Indie Rock project, Aleutians, release their wholesome EP “This is all we need”. A 5-track emotional journey that explores the themes of maturing, changing, and the passage of time, as well as making your peace and finding joy with those changes.

Aleutians is an indie/DIY project from New Brighton on the Wirral created by musician Will T. He takes inspiration from local history as well as the likes of Turnover, Death Cab, American Football, Alvvays and the Boo Radleys to create wistful, nostalgic chunks of guitar pop about loves lost and chances missed.
“This is all we need” is beautifully nostalgic EP created from the perspective of a fully matured father, as he looks back into the past, full of long-gone lovers / friends, mistakes made, and all the good times he had now being preserved only in memory. All of this to realize that everything that has happened has been worth it, as he watches his daughter grow up.
The EP, as mentioned above comes with a full DIY approach, as everything was written and recorded by Will himself. “I play everything and for that reason it’s a little rough around the edges but I really like the lo fi feel and hope it resonates with people. What if Death Cab were from a sleepy English coastal town is the plan.”, he explains.

You will listen to songs like “A heathen!”, which is about the necessity to change who you are. It talks about the realization that what once defined you, doesn’t anymore; but, also, you aren’t quite the person you need to be yet either.
Next, you will continue with “Welcome home”, a song about a chance encounter with someone who really wasn’t anything to you, but who could have been if either of you had let them be. “It’s essentially about missed chances and regrets and reassessment of priorities.”, Will says.
Third track is “Only this time”, probably my favorite track musically, and it is about the futility of trying to change the past, but fixating on it regardless. It explores the thoughts and emotions of wanting to go back and revisit the good times, even if you know how they turned out. “We can’t preserve beautiful moments except in memory.“
“Megan in the mirror” is the fourth song, and one of the most emotionally fulfilling ones. In Will’s word: “It is about my daughter learning to dance from bopping around in front of the TV to ballet lessons and performing on the big stage and the pride of being a father.”
Last but not least, “The sunshine comes with you”, closes up the EP, acting as a finishing thought after a meditative contemplation of Will’s life, to which we can all relate to up to a certain point. It is about realizing that everything that’s happened up to this point has been worth it, all the struggles, etc, paid off, “and that’s evident when my daughter cartwheels into the room and lights it up.“
A heartwarming journey indeed!
