With years of experience behind their backs in Ireland’s Indie music scene, Fig Astro is creating music that is both delightful and mind-bending. Created by musicians Fiachra Lennon and Andrew Lyster, Fig Astro is a new musical promise that will definitely raise a good number of eyebrows.
The “VR” single offers the perspective that we as a species are making our own way to our own demise.
“VR” is such a great debut. Musically speaking it’s a very creative and “out of the box” composition. Although it was influenced by “A Day In The Life” by The Beatles, the song offers a minimalistic yet complex instrumentation, with such a simple but powerful groove and psychedelic melodies / ambiences that make us feel back in a different era.
An analog sound for analog lovers. Retro and modern vibes mixed together elegantly, with a classy and tasteful composition. Silky smooth, innovative, and unique, this debut really puts Fig Astro under the “must listen” category.
Lyrically, the narrator, a digital algorithm, is indelicate towards its human subject, who is consistently referred to as “IT” rather than “she”. as the listener is stuck with objectification.
