FM Rodeo was founded in the picturesque Hill Country of Texas back in 2015. Their music is truly captivating, as they skillfully incorporate earlier styles and sonics, shaping them into a fresh, alternative sound that resonates perfectly with the modern era.
Their latest track “Inhale” boldly reflects the band’s motto: Impact is not limited to volume and velocity alone. Embracing a deliberate tempo, fueled by powerful drumming and well-rounded high-gain guitars, they have unleashed a track that truly commands attention.
Now, I wouldn’t be expressing it all if I said the track was flawless. It does at times fall into a sense of listening to a loop, just a bit repetitive. The track at times falls short in offering the listener the sensation of change, whether it be in key, tempo, or through new melodic additions that could enrich the overall listening experience.
For example, the verses exude an incredibly similar essence, while the last chorus presents the same chords in a repetitive manner. If there’s one thing I’ve come to realize through my years of immersing myself in music, it’s that repetition certainly adds legitimacy, but it’s the subtle details and the small changes here and there that truly breathe life into a remarkable and enduring song.
Nevertheless, it boasts an impressive sound that is sure to excite new listeners, with a nod to the heavy Alt-Rock from the 90’s and 00’s that will be appreciated by anyone from that era.
It also features a substantial bass line that effectively engulfs the entire instrumental. Assertive, authentic, and thrilling, it delivers a significant amount of grit and expansiveness to the track.
