American quintet Swivvel, from Miami, is back with their first glimpse of new music since the release of the EP Passerby in 2023. “Last Dance” is a shimmering track filled with dream pop and surf rock influences, shining ever so bright. The Florida-based band finds their way through oneiric atmospheres and shivering wilderness with the precision of a tour guide; relying on ancient knowledge while still making their own mark.
The music carved by Swivvel since their stunning debut “Parlor Trick” in 2021 borrows a lot from the chillwave mastered by Washed Out and continues to add thrilling layers of charm and personality to it. On their new single “Last Dance”, the band does a remarkable job in stepping forward while still creating something that feels like a return to form. Backed by haunting The Cure-ish guitar riffs, the band reveals a philosophical track about taking chances and raises introspective questions with heartbreaking honesty.
