Getting Started is a dynamic Indie Rock quintet from Chicago, featuring the talents of Jack Gallo [vocals/rhythm guitar], Matt Stein [lead guitar], Pat Hickey [bass], Jack Scanlon [drums], and Eddie O’Connor [keys]. Drawing inspiration from iconic acts like The Strokes and Kings Of Leon, they deliver music that exudes both drive and profound emotion.
Their new single, Get Up, is as charming as it is uplifting. Softly strummed guitar chords, carefully played, deliver a soothing harmony. The drums present a gentle swing, yet they are solid enough to keep everything together alongside the accompanying bass.
Vocals are crisp and melodic, weaving a powerful message of resilience directed toward his better half. “Do not tell me how this will end, we promised not to fight,” the lyrics assert. Instead, they demand a positive resolution and remind us that it’s not about how many times you fall, but how many you can rise again.
Getting Started has captivated audiences across Chicago-land,
dominating legendary stages such as The Cubby Bear, Chop Shop, The Hideout, and Subterranean. They also have consistently filled venues at HVAC Pub, Uncommon Ground, and The House of Blues Foundation Room.
“Get Up” also features an expertly mixed piano in the background, you barely notice its there but it adds a huge amount of depth and texture to the song. In a beautiful crescendo, the instrumental and vocals resemble the emotional qualities of U2’s music, adding a layer of nostalgia.
The single was crafted at Gravity Studios, a space where iconic acts like The Smashing Pumpkins and Fall Out Boy have recorded. It’s no surprise that it delivers such an exceptional sound!
