Tahani, a bright new rising star from the UK, has just revealed her first single, “Twist of Fate”, a country-flavored song offering solace for anyone living with trauma. Born from the chaos in which Tahani found herself all of a sudden, the song handles difficult questions with no real answers for any of it, and unravels the thorny vines of her past trauma with it.
The biggest pains have the deepest roots. “Twist of Fate” returns to the foggy memories of childhood, the days that should’ve been full of happiness, taken over by abandonment due to her alcoholic father randomly leaving the family behind. Wounds this big had left the little girl with lasting effects into adulthood, a whole set of issues to live with.
Recorded in an intimate acoustic setup surrounded by poignant melodies, Tahani’s emotional voice recalls painful memories from the past. However, the present comes to play with a particularly cruel twist of fate, leaving the now-grown girl between very difficult choices. Her father is back, but now terminally ill and suffering from dementia. She remembers the pain he had caused all those years ago, the kind and confused man does not.
An internal tug of war between the abandoned inner child screaming, and the heart of kindness and forgiveness was an intolerable standoff. The lyrics, melodies, recording the song and all the other steps in the creation of the song saw her crying her heart out, but once the process was done, Tahani felt like a lifetime of pain and trauma had been released from within. The most intense therapy session, but in the end she also found clarity.
Tahani wishes to connect with listeners through her music and heal them by helping them lift off the crushing weight of trauma. For this, she is armed with storyteller capabilities, including heartfelt lyrics and the courage to face painful themes. With just the debut single out, Tahani has already created an intimate set for live events. A performance is upcoming at a private event, and as an openly lesbian singer, she is hoping to perform at Pride events.
