Kat Kikta’s alter alias Sophia Aya reveals “Slow Trees”, two magical recreations of Kat’s poignant “Cherry Trees”. A strong anti-war statement embedded in meditative music has now been taken further and turned into lengthy, deep and resonant explorations into the deep ends of one’s soul. While hasty decisions leading to destruction are made and war tears holes in the land, Sophia Aya wants to show the true meaning of existence through self-reflection between the old wise trees.

“Slow Trees” comes in two versions. One is the ambient, instrumental journey through shimmering, sparse specks of light, slow thump of a drum adding a measure of time in this inner universe. It does not rush to show the various hidden facets and sounds, but lets them come out in their own time. In a world of constant rush with no time for deep reconsideration, “Slow Trees” forces to take 14 minutes off to allow one’s mind to find itself again.
The other version with the same length is also a spiritual journey, but into a different inner space with no drums present. Here, the calm atmosphere is home to melodies sung by soft, ethereal voices, and harmonies flowing between the distant thrumming from the horizon and the shimmer of windchimes seem to have the ability to stop time and allow the listener to witness everything through still frames.
The two versions share core elements, such as most of the instruments found in meditative music, but remain unique experiences on their own.

The instrumental ambient version comes with a music video, which borrows imagery from the original song. Hazy clips of an old household explore the curtain patterns, old electronics, shapes made by objects against light from the windows and dusty spiderwebs, showing hidden beauty in what a hurried eye would simply call “old”. The softly swaying eye also moves outside through the fields to reveal spiritual half masts embedded in nature.
the music video revealed on August 13th.

“Cherry Trees” was created by Kat Kikta as a powerful anti-war song stemming from the ongoing war in Ukraine, also fitting the inhumane situation in Gaza and other violent atrocities humankind inflicts upon its own. Sophia Aya, Kat Kikta’s alter ego, offers a deeper journey into peace itself – healing, serene soundscapes with undisturbed pools of water reflecting what life would be without pain and suffering.
