The Amanda Emblem Experiment, the collaborative project from Australia, presents Ancient Dingo, a delightful single created to help improve the understanding and bad reputation of the amazing Australian Dingo, a dangerous yet enigmatic animal that you probably didn’t even know existed. Out now!
Leaded by singer/songwriter Amanda Emblem, the Amanda Emblem Experiment is a project born from Amanda’s love for nature and music. With the help of outstanding local musicians (most notably Billy Adams, Kelly King, Scott Astill, and Moses King), she crafts songs that blend genres like Folk, Rock, Roots, and Blues.
Ancient Dingo captivates with its infectious reggae rhythm, underpinned by a mesmerizing fretless bassline that propels the groove forward. Electric guitars weave enchanting melodies, while the passionate harmonica adds an emotive layer, complemented by tight, energetic drums and uplifting vocals that harmonize beautifully, culminating in an incredibly inspiring and soothing musical experience.
The song was inspired by a camping holiday on K’gari (Fraser Island) a stunningly beautiful Island on the Sandy Strait of SE Queensland. It is unique because it has a protected, pure bred Dingo colony.
In the Australian mainland, dingoes are often perceived as pests to be eradicated. Outside the protective confines of National Parks, they are classified as restricted invasive species. Amanda’s choice to release the “Ancient Dingo” on Australia Day aims to foster improved relationships through understanding and awareness, while fully respecting the cultural history of the Indigenous peoples of Australia.
Dingoes are a significant totem animal for the local clans with deep cultural and kinship ties. The Wat’dha (Camp Dingo) helped them hunt, track and protected the indigenous people from Bad Spirits.
The message conveyed in “Ancient Dingo” serves as a cautionary tale. Dingos exhibit a notable curiosity towards humans and approach them without trepidation regarding potential consequences. Consequently, individuals frequently engage with Dingos, often unaware of the potential dangers associated with such interactions.

Track 1 is a full electric version (which features on the album The Wood)
Track 2 is an acoustic “stripped back” version, featuring the Didgeridoo.
