In February 2025, Zegovia burst onto the scene with their debut album, OBSERVE, an exploration of the pressures faced by Gen Z, the curated lives they portray online, and the profound yearning for genuine human connection in an overwhelmingly digital landscape.
“Above The Roof & In The Tree” is Zegovia delving even deeper into the raw essence of their sound, as they deliver an intense Pop Punk instrumentation with a hint of Math Rock. All is presented through a warm and gritty wall of sound that perfectly captures their distinct energy.
The vocals are an honest expression of human emotion. Melodic, yet screaming with tension and frustration. It is a perfect portrayal of what it feels like to be young: sweet at times, but often chaotic and unpredictable.
Singer/songwriter, Seth Mireles, was inspired by his own experience at a quiet childhood hideaway where he and his first love once climbed above the rooftops to stare at the sky and imagine their future. The song revisits that memory through a darker lens and realizes a harsh truth:
“What was once a place of wonder becomes a vantage point for witnessing the slow unraveling of a relationship, pulled apart by diverging dreams and the destructive grip of addiction.“
