TROLN – “SAYS ABRAHAM”

Do you pray? Have you ever thought about the nature of whom/whatever you’re praying to? Reaching out to an invisible force may not be as good as it sounds. There might be something else waiting on the other side. Something… evil. Today’s single is all about that! An antagonizing obscure-folk tune that questions the nature of the “higher-power”. “SAYS ABRAHAM

Who’s listening? Is there anybody out there? Is it really all good and noble? Maybe not everything is what it seems. Maybe we’re shacking hands with a terrible force! This is what Copenhagen based band, TROLN keeps thinking about!

‘Says Abraham’ is song about devotion to a god or a spiritual leader–but not necessarily in a good way. […] Many are looking for something or someone to believe in. Someone to follow. Someone to tell us what to do and to whom we can direct our dreams and longing. In the hope that someone will hear our prayers, notice our sacrifices. But how can one know, if the god of choice is really a good god? How do we know, that what we follow is good and true? How do we know, we are not paying a price?

TROLN deals with this issue with a spooky, creepy “murder ballad”. An ominous organ riff shakes our nerves, and the eerie vocals makes us wonder about what’s lurking in the shadows… so scary!  The band is known for their psych rock/postpunk/neonoir/gothpop approach to music, as well as their love for darkness and romance. Some people have compared them with those cool goth bands from the 90’s like The Cure, Cocteau Twins, This Mortal Coil and PJ Harvey herself.

The haunting lyrics shed a light into our blackest feelings, and the instrumentation serves as the carrier for all the suspense and tension of the track. Bring on the chills!

TROLN released its debut album ‘TROLN’ in 2019, receiving high-praise from fx Sound designer and member of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and of the Emmy TV Academy, Peter Albrechtsen, who wrote in Politiken (biggest Danish daily) of a beautiful debut with ‘enormous potential’.

Members of TROLN are: Helene Navne (vocals), Christian Rønn (organ/keys), Henrik Liebgott (guitar), Thomas Olsen (drums/beats). There will be a video release once the single comes out, so stay tuned!
