Robbie Rapids, this American artist is debuting with a single that is both a Power Pop banger and a respectful tribute to one of the most tragic chapters of American history.
“Who Shot Them Down” is a Classic Rock track with a funky groove brought to us by Robbie Rapids, a musician who has been writing music since he was 16 yo, and has been perfecting his craft over all these years after being in several music projects. Now, the Atlanta-based songwriter is finally ready to go solo and make waves with his music.
ROBBIE RAPIDS “WHO SHOT THEM DOWN”
His debut single, made in collaboration with David Levene, renowned session musician and producer who was also a member of Laghonia (one of the most influential psychedelic acts from South America), is a track filled with melodic hooks, crafty guitars, and the soothing vocals of Robbie himself.
Influenced by acts like David Bowie, Tom Petty, The Beatles, and even Stone Temple Pilots, Robbie Rapids carries that classic sound of warm guitars and a groove that takes us back to another era. No doubt why his music style has often been described as ‘Jangly Power Pop Rock’.
But even more important than the music, “Who Shot Them Down” was inspired by the book ‘Arc Road’ by Tony Tiffin, which tells the story of the tragic events that occurred in Gwinnett County, Georgia on April 17 of 1964, when three officers were shot down with their own guns by three psychopaths. This case would be remembered forever as ‘The Dark Days of April 1964’.
The story-telling abilities of Rapids make themselves present in the track, as well as his honed songwriting skills, making “Who Shot Them Down” a very solid debut for the artist.
Everything is about each song individually no matter what the genre, most will fall in rock and I draw from my many influences. If I did my job well, the listener will understand what the song is about and won’t be left guessing, confused, or making their own interpretation like is so common today.
