Soul and Rock come together in this emotional track filled with personal experiences and a lot of groove. “Lin Manuel” dwells in the struggles of dealing with insecurities, while also condemning the world’s tendencies to criticize and hate by default.
“Onism” is the awareness of how little of the world you will actually experience. And for the creators of this San Antonio, USA band, this will not do! This is the reason why they created Onism E, to be able to share a worldly experience with each of their fans.
Created by frontman Eline Chavez, the lead-singer took all of her journey of being born in California, raised in Texas, and now calling New York City home, and put it all into her songwriting. Finding inspiration in groundbreaking female rockers like Joan Jett, Bonnie Raitt, Chrissie Hynde, and Melissa Etheridge, she condensed it all into her potent and fierce vocal performance.
“Lin Manuel” was born after the stillness of the pandemic brought up all of Eline’s insecurities. Thoughts like “What am doing? How long can I keep doing this? Should I continue on or let this go?” (which are, by the way, the daily struggles of an Indie artist), arose.
With the help of the Texas-based power trio: Chris ‘Lefty’ Vargas (Guitar), Chris ‘CeeRod’ Rodriguez (Bass), and Raj Arenas (Drums), Eline diluted all of this feelings and created what might be an anthemic call out to stay strong, stay humble, and persevere as a human being.
The song starts with the skipping beat of the drums and a delightful bass line, while echoing guitar melodies ornament the background. There’s that southern vibe to the track, relatable to the desert heat and its hazy visions. Just a tad of psychedelia makes itself present as Eline’s vocals deliver their deepest feelings…
