Experimenting feelings that we never had felt before can be a little intimidating: When it comes to romance for example, we may feel a little doubt at the start of a relationship. We may not be sure if what we feel is real, or we may be afraid that we will be rejected if we express how we feel. But embracing these feelings, diving deep into the unknown, without caring of the others’ opinion, all while knowing that a bumpy road awaits, gives us a feeling of freedom like none other. Roisin O’Hagan’s newest single “Wild & Free” is just about it. With a hint of Americana, country and pop-rock, this exciting track is a call for adventure, of accepting every possible risk coming our way because we know it is worth it.
Rosin O’Hagan is an Americana Singer-songwriter based on Essex in the UK. She has been writing and performing music since she was 12 years old. She is inspired by early Taylor Swift, Alanis Morisette, Counting Crows and Tom Petty. Recently, she made a trip to Nashville where she spent time in various studios such as Blackbird Studio while collaborating with musicians like Tim Galloway, Brian Allen, Miles McPhearson and Wes Little. Sunset Valley is her upcoming EP, from which she has released two singles “Sunset Valley” and “Road From Nevada”. “Wild & Free” is the third single from this EP, which marks an exciting journey ahead of the young singer songwriter.
“Wild & Free” expresses the liberty of being who you are and accepting your emotions just as they come. O’Hagan uses her melodic and powerful voice as a symbol of bravery, as a call for adventure of a newfound love. The lyrics explore feelings and images of freedom and love, of secret relationships that come to light. But strongest of all is her music. Her fusion of country and Americana proves to be a successful one since she can express her themes with only her music. The guitars form a chord progression that starts contained and slowly develops to the titular freedom of the song in the chorus, just as we reach the climax of the track.
