Hello my friends! Welcome back! It’s me, MadZen, once again ready to deliver to you another absolute banger! I see you leaving a like in my recent articles and for that I’m very grateful, I’m really glad to know you’ve been enjoying them so far. So, let’s keep going!
Today we have an excellent song brought to us by an amazing British group called PolSky. Polsky was created by Kris Warren, a songwriter and music producer based in the South East of England who had the amazing opportunity to learn from one of the greats… Cocteau Twins’ Robin Guthrie! Warren payed close attention to Guthrie’s production and writing techniques while absorbing ideas from sessions with Echo and the Bunnymen, Terry Hall, Nick Lowe, and Billy Mackenzie. Now, that’s a fortunate son.
“Halcyon Daze” is PolSky’s newest and second single release preceding their upcoming debut LP, which is said to be a collection of Indie, Pop, and Rock sensibilities influenced by corporate zombies, elderly love affairs, brain function, mid-noughties video game addiction and the human obsession with shouting louder than everyone else. Such album is currently slated for Spring 2023.
In this track you will listen to some nice, retro sounding synths, a punchy/fast bass line, pumped up drums, super fun vocals, and lots and lots of disco-like melodies. You will have fun, you will be entertained, and you will be amazed by the quality and the technique achieved by these fine gentlemen. They draw inspiration from bands like The Cure, Bloc Party, Roxy Music, LCD Soundsystem, Duran Duran, and Joy Division, so you can expect a familiar sound with a unique twist that will accelerate your senses.
A wonderful musical achievement by PolSky indeed, leaving us with the intrigue of what their next album will be. We cannot wait! I must confess, this is one of the best tracks we’ve received so far this year and I’m super stoked to share it with you so, go ahead and LISTEN NOW!
