The Irish singer-songwriter is back! Having previously released “Reach Out” and “Calm Before the Storm“, Yana has introduced us to her deep honest close-to-soul sound inspired by her Irish heritage and themes of life. Her newest single continues to offer the best of her with a little bit of new added to the mix!
Looking at the title of this new song, I was worried this is going to be bad news for my depressed state of mind. Indeed, it’s titled “Funeral of Life“, and it comes as a rather gloomy and minimal acoustic song beginning like attending the funeral of someone once so omnipresent and now gone. But listening to it closer, it’s an introspective story of lockdown and the effects it had on people’s lives, dressed up as an eulogy of a kind.
The sorrowful folk song has slight twinge of hope between the lines. While it’s a funeral of life as it once was, there are a lot of lessons learned from the experience. Most importantly, even the smallest positive things should not be taken for granted, and that nothing lasts forever. That includes the bad times.
“Funeral of Life” is the third and penultimate single coming from Yana this year. All these four tracks will be part of Yana’s upcoming debut album called “Journey of the Soul”, set to release soon.
