What’s going on ladies and gentlemen, welcome back. It’s your boy MadZen and today we have a pretty heavy track with dark rock qualities, as well as exciting synth melodies and powerful drumming. Originally released in 2019, this single has been given new life thanks to a brand new production and the re-recording of the instruments.

51 Miles Away is a duo from Augsburg, Germany, created by Sven Frei (songwriting and vocals) and Andy Schaper (drums, guitars, production). United by their passion for music, the duo joined forces to create music with a message that resonates with the listener.

This single was inspired by Sven’s own struggle with the illness. Trying to generate a more synth-driven composition, the song turned out to be a really energetic rock song with New Wave meets Industrial Rock qualities.
“The song tries to explain how it feels when you suffer from depression and encourages the listener to never stop fighting it!“

Heavily influenced by Depeche Mode, the band threw a little nod to them in the song’s title. The “finally” makes reference to a Depeche Mode track called “Fly On The Windscreen” which was a B-Side and later remixed and included on the album “Black Celebration”. “They added “final” to the name of the song, so I thought this could fit here, too“, Sven explains.
First-time listeners can expect a gritty sound. 51 Miles Away delivers a solid mix of electronic and rock sounds, but when it comes to the mood and lyrics of the songs, they definitely give credit to the musical icons of Depeche Mode. So, listen now!
