The Margaret Hooligans have returned with their fourth single off their upcoming album, ThunderHole Rock n’ Roll, scheduled for release this October. “Main Street Zulus” is a heavy Rock track with forceful rhythms and almost no melodies but those of Meg’s inner core chants, and the occasional ukulele power chord riff.
A song that imagines the inner monologue of a woman forced to endure the worst blind date ever. In The Margaret Hooligans’ words: “The online dating world is fraught with people trying to put their best face forward which means there is frequently a bit of exaggeration. This song takes that idea to its extreme and imagines what it would be like to be stuck on a date with someone who has completely misrepresented who they are. Main Street Zulus is complete with sonic chaos to imagine that churning inner turmoil.”

Tremulous in deed, the track presents Mr. Strontium’s usual display of drum virtuosity. Non-stop drums, moving forward like an unchained beast, while Meg’s desperate pleads let out the rage inside of being in such an uncomfortable situation. Chaotic and loud, just how they like it.
Main Street Zulus was recorded in the basement of Piety Street Publishing, mixed and produced by Mr. Strontium and mastered by KRAMER of Shimmy Disc Records. Meg Cratty handles lead vocals, electric tenor guitar and electric guitar, while Mr. Strontium takes care of back-up vocals and drums/percussion.
