Hailing from Greenville, Lindsay Brazell is a singer-songwriter and performer with a heart full of passion for music and making the world a better place. Her music spins up that good youthful energy, which is packed in a mesh of bluesy folk pop, bridging what’s catchy in the pop realm with the impactful sound of indie folk. The artist also loves to perform, and more recently, she found herself working on a project, which is where the new EP comes from.
The project saw Lindsay getting commissioned to write a few songs for a high school choir in the genre of barbershop. Three songs were born and in February 2023 they were performed at the Barbershop Harmony Society Midwinter Conference. For this event, the trio of songs were proper choir songs brought to life by the choir of high school students. Written in inspiration by conversations held with high school kids, the music reflects the hopes and fears of those young people living in this world as we know it.
Lindsay’s new EP is a much different body of work. Here, those three songs showcase how the artist envisioned them herself during the writing process. The result is a combination of boldness and determination infused with a whole lot of soul. Imagine the power of unison and shared troubles in poetic, highly relatable lyricism embedded in the captivating indie pop sound. From the syncing heartbeats driving people to sing together, to the heart-to-heart chat between the children and the young adults, “The World This Way” EP is inspiring and heartwarming record. It knows the world is very messy and instead of shying away from facing the fact, the EP has loads of faith to share and heal with.
