2.- Let the Music Ruin You Life by The Barren Spinsters is seriously good music for people who don’t take themselves too seriously or at least played by a band that knows how to be self-deprecating in a fun tongue and cheek way. Musically this blends folk, blues, country and soul with good old fashioned fucking rock n’ roll. You can keep reading our review here.

3.- Michael Donoghue is back on the blog with his new body of work, this time an EP titled “Mantes”. The release sees the artist depart from the usual rhythm-directed music and going straight into the beatless domain – an astral version of deep-sea realms. “Mantes” is a calm yet highly visceral little album where the absence of clear rhythm is replaced by ethereal sound driven by its own pulse. 4.- FALS is the stage moniker of Sweden native Eric Fallander, former Stockholm music journalist turned copywriter, who pivoted to a new form of expression during the pandemic. When the rest of the world was busy with jigsaw puzzles and scavenging for toilet paper, he picked up the old guitar that had mostly been used for lullabies and songbooks. What came out was 12 poignant stories about love and loss on European highways and memory lanes, on pills and booze and good times.
5.- MAGENTA DUSK “Last Light” in his own words: “The EP has been put together as a whole piece that plays out a narrative. Each song represents a particular time, moment of reflection, or emotion. It’s designed to be heard as a sequence. A dreamy concoction of retro 80s sounds, with a stylish modern touch, and carries with it a shifting mood and atmosphere.
6.- Working Hours is the powerful storytelling of artist Ness Nöst (Vanessa Nostbakken) entering the dark twists and turns of a woman’s life in the service industry. Nostbakken wrote, performed, and produced the entire EP, having raised $7000 independently to put it into the world. The EP is a concept piece, a semi-autobiographical account of Nostbakken’s 11 years as a woman in the service industry.
7.- Jordan Withmore “One Breath” on her own words: “These songs are acoustic, simple, and raw. They’re a reflection of navigating through dark times and finding the resilience within. These songs became my solace in one of the hardest seasons of my life. Now, I’m ready to share them with others, hoping they resonate with listeners facing their unique challenges.”
8.- Cloudbelly “i know i know i know” The album was written in the aftermath of the consecutive, tightly timed implosion of two of frontperson Corey Laitman’s formative relationships. “i know i know i know” is – among other things – a document of their sincere effort to grieve; to remember; to take stock; to get angry; to forgive; and to reconcile the painful necessity of those relationships coming to an end.
9.- With vocals described as “delicate enough to calm a hurricane” and songs dubbed “hauntingly melodic”, New York based alt-pop singer-songwriter Hillary Capps is gearing up to enchant audiences with her latest EP, “from the quiet of the underworld“.
