British artist, Tom Minor, delivers his top-notch single “Expanding Universe”. An Indie-Rock inspired track with Folk features that talks about the future, and how it sometimes catches up to us. Like recent days! Out now.
Hailing from London, England, Tom Minor is a singer-songwriter inspired by a numerous variety of genres including Indie Rock, New Wave, Punk, Power Pop, Psychedelic / Garage rock, Soul and R&B.
After years of working as what you might call a “ghost writer” for people all around the world, he’s now focused on his own brand and what he calls his “Existential Indie”.
Tom Minor gathered high praise all across the blogosphere for his debut album Eleven Easy Pieces on Anger & Disappointment.
“Expanding Universe” stands out through its polished sound, great instrumental and sarcastic lyricism. It’s a song that reflects on the chaos created by big tech companies and global bullies.
The recent Trumpocalypse has been throwing everybody and everything around like a rag doll. The track uses comedy to convey the cynicism and nerve that has been flooding our news and streaming feeds, and how everyone else is paying the price for the billionaires’ tantrums.
The song opens with a simple intro, and quickly goes full on with a great selection of instruments, perfectly played and carefully mixed. Tom Minor’s vocals act almost as a conversation, an ask and response delivery of witty verses.
Overall the track is a sarcastic critique against how we can feel so feeble in the big picture of it all, and how we can find ourselves helpless at times against the powers that be.
Ultimately, it lowkey sends a message of “whatever, we will all be gone soon”, which really takes a laugh out of you, leaving us just as spectators in the grand scheme of things.
