Electric High’s impressive new single “Colorful White Lies”

We’re glad to announce that Bergen, Norway-based high-voltage rock band Electric High has released a new single, entitled “Colorful White Lies.”

Influenced by bands like Wolfmother, Aerosmith and Black Sabbath, Electric High is comprised of PV Staff (lead vocals), Olav Iversen (lead vocals), Marius Mørch (guitars), Einride Torvik (bass), and Tor Bjarne Bjelland (drums). The members all hail from other bands like Sahg, Faith Circus, and Emmerhoff & The Melancholy Babies.

Fronted by two commanding lead singers, Electric High play an exciting and energetic form of rock music; and they’ve put out many great releases throughout 2020 and 2021—several of which have appeared on our blog, including their Go Easy on My Heart EP (our review here), “Trembling Bones” (our review here), “Fire!” (our review here), “Sun” (our review here), “Populate the Moon” (our review here), and “Rough Diamond” (our review here).

Electric High’s latest single, “Colorful White Lies,” was recorded at Solslottet Studio, Bergen, Norway; and it was produced by Electric High & Iver Sandøy. The song is about when a white lie starts to “change color,”  and begins to have more consequential implications.

Elaborating on the lyrical meaning and creative process behind “Colorful White Lies,” PV Staff from Electric High says:

Colorful White Lies is a song about «cute little lies» that turns out to have a little bit darker tunes to it, than just White. I believe that everybody can see themself in this situation. Telling a white lie, and you realize that it was not «that white».

Our guitarist, Marius, had this great lick. So I wrote the whole song around it. The lick ended up as the chorus, and I just added the bass lines and some vocals on top.

Many more releases from Electric High will also follow in 2022; PV Staff says about Electric High’s plans for the future:

Our plans for 2022 is to release more singles, as we have been doing. But also a full album…..it’s on it’s way. And most of the stuff is already recorded.
Because of Covid restrictions, we haven’t done many gigs lately. So the booking starts NOW!
We have also got a new drummer, Tossa. And we are rehearsing on some old stuff as well…..getting him and us ready for the road.

Starting with the first verse, “Colorful White Lies” immediately draws in the listener in with a gritty, fuzz-tone bass guitar riff and hand-clap rhythms, on top of which the dual vocals add their catchy melodies. Then kicking off the track’s euphoric singalong chorus is a groovy, rocking guitar riff that brings to mind classic rock bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd and Aerosmith. The second chorus then leads into a captivating instrumental section featuring an impressive guitar solo, which seamlessly transitions into the final chorus and concluding verse. “Colorful White Lies” is quite an enjoyable listen throughout, once again showcasing Electric High’s brilliant songwriting and superb musicianship; I would highly recommend this track to fans of classic- and southern rock alike.
