DISCOVERED VIA MUSOSOUP

1.- Serbian indie act Bones in Butter releases their first full length album, that serves as a compilation as well as a perfect introduction to the band’s sound. Songs for a Sane Society arrives fully formed, giving the songs a newfound life in the most stellar of ways. The album comes with fifteen tracks, and we’ve covered more than half of it as singles since 2021’s “So Alone”, and it’s been wonderful to listen carefully as they evolve into greatness. 2.- As we embark on a new year during these strange and troubling times, a lot of people are taking the time to reflect on what was, what is, and what is to be. My two cents: one would be best served by going in and being in “tune with your star player,” as that one comedian mused that one time. Alas, I implore you fine independent music lovers to remain steadfast and greet this new year with Fortitude. Both figuratively and literally. DCxPC is on board. And thus! Volume 12 of their live punk rock vinyl series has emerged for presale. You can order here.

3.- Happy New Year LT1KF readers! Hopefully we haven’t failed at our New Year’s resolutions quite yet. Hmm? Just me? Okay then. Moving on. Indeed, it was only a matter of days ago that were we snug in our beds, as visions of sugar plum fairies slam-danced in our heads, and Rochester, New York’s Into The Light was delivering goodwill towards man in the form of a self-titled EP. You can keep reading our review here.

4.- British Indie Rock band, The Trusted, have finally released their highly anticipated EP, “Lost Soul”. A 5-track collection of outstanding songs filled with exciting melodies, created with the upmost technique and performance. You can keep reading our review here.

5.- London band Near Death Experience (NDX) has created a diverse and engaging album titled The Release, blending various genres such as garage, rock, soul, funk, indie, psychedelia, and blues. The use of acoustic instruments, along with electronic elements, adds a dynamic touch to the overall sound. The inclusion of different musical styles, from the punchy funk-rock riff to the smooth electro groove and the soulful pop yearnings, showcases their versatility. You can keep reading our review here.

6.- Stage Door Guy were born in Manchester, formed in New Orleans and based in SE London. Each of these elements plays a part in their music as they hop from genre to genre like musical magpies – weaving and welding New Orleans guitar licks and West African lilts; Mancunian beat poetry and classic doo wop street rhymes; avant garde indie and punk blues. Listen to their album “Beach Party” now!

7.-

Mauro Martins de Oliveira is the creator and producer of the music and music-video project Love To Bleed. The name itself reflects a lifelong commitment to putting love first and wearing the heart on the sleeve, not just in personal relationships, but also with Mauro’s lifelong commitment to activism and being a father of four. Love To Bleed’s diverse lyrics reflect a vulnerable and exposed human engaging and navigating the broad and complex topics of the awakening global citizen, risking and suffering the consequences.

8.- Jim Bower and his album “The Fourth Wall”, packed with his trademark black humour and big-subject commentary. Its twin themes are a self-deprecating honesty and an underlying foreboding that both Jim and society at large are being gradually absorbed into the digital realm and a future dominated by thinking machines. “It’s as much fun as you can have with existential dread,” says Jim. We covered the single “Obsolete” back in October 2023. Listen to the album now!

9.- The Violet Tapes in their own words: “The album is called ‘Thin Places‘, which are the earthly places that bridge to heaven. The idea was to have each song representing one of those ‘Thin Places’. That may not be immediately obvious, but that was the idea”.

Also, worth to listen to AN EP by Just Barely, in their own words: “We don’t play to be rich or famous, we love playing music, writing, and recording and sharing it regardless if it’s through pressed vinyl, online or at live shows. That’s about all we have to offer.
